This is a peculiar practice of Jogís prior to restraining the breath and falling then into a death-like sleep or torpidity. The Jogís are said to purify their bodies first by drinking milk. They then swallow a piece of cotton cloth, which they bring out at the anus, thus clearing the stomach and the bowels from all impurities.
