s. f, The name of a grass, (Anatherum muricatum, Nat. Ord. Gramineæ) not uncommon in the Punjab plains, When the odorous roots (khas) have to be got in considerable quantity to make ṭaṭṭís, it has sometimes to be brought from a distance of many miles. The root is the best substance for making ṭaṭṭís, or matted doors on which water is sprinkled to cool down the air within the room. The roots (khas) also are used medicinally. Also see Khawí.
