s. m, (M., Poṭ.) A kind of soil, a stiff black clay which dries slowly and splits up into large clods as it dries. Seed germinates slowly in it and it requires copious irrigation to bring a crop to perfection. It is the least esteemed of soils:—rapaṛ raháwaṉ magaj khapáwaṉ.
