s. m, The sun:—súraj grahṉ, s. m. A solar eclipse:—súraj mukhí, s. m. The sun flower; (Helianthus annuus); a kind of fan; a kind of firework:—súraj baṇsí, s. m. The solar dynasty or line of kings, the line of Rám, who was descended from Ikshvaku son of Vaivasta Manu, son of the Sun. Many Rajput tribes still claim to be of the solar race, the other great line of kings is the Chaṇdar baṇsí or lunar line.
