s. m, ndal wood, Santalum Album, Nat. Ord. Santalaceæ; mortar used for a tomb;—A small tree (Fraxinus xanthxoylloides, Nat. Ord. Oleaceæ) common in the arid tracts on the Sutlej and Chenab and in the Jhelum basin. Its wood is hard, heavy and strong, but being small, is mainly used for plough handles and for fuel. The leaves are used as fodder.
