A lover, a friend, a benefactor; love, friendship:—ghar kí nár bahut hít já soṇ raht sadá saṇg lágí, jab yeh haṇs tají eh káyáṇ pret pret! kar bhágí. The wife shows a great affection and always lies close to her husband, but when his soul quits his body, she cries pret pret (i. e., evil spirit) and flies.
