s. m, Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Kák. A crow; met. far too clever; too wise or prudent (in a bad sense):—káṇ káṇ karná, v. n. To caw, to chatter; met. to speak or cry uninterruptedly, to make a din:—káṇ uḍáuṉe, v. a. lit. To scare a crow; if a crow hops to another place or flies away when addressed, it is an omen that the expected friend or relation will arrive soon:—siáṉá káṇ gúṇh te ḍigdá hai. lit. A wise crow falls on ordure, i. e., too much prudence is not always good.
