s. m, Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Kuputtar. A worthless or unworthy son, a bad or degenerate son, an undutiful son:—líke lík gáṛí chale líke chale kupút, eh tann líke ná chaleṇ sáir, siṇgh supút. A carriage goes on a wheel track and an unworthy son goes on a line (adopted by his ancestors); and then these three do not follow the lines (adopted by their predecessors or ancestors), i. e., a poet, a lion, a worthy son.—Prov. used to show that an able poet, a lion, a worthy son make improvements and do not care to follow the course (if it be defective) adopted by their predecessors or ancestors.
