s. m. (M.), ) lit. The spotted one; a fish, the murrel (Ophiocophalus marulius)—also called sahol. It grows to three or four feet in length, and has an eye-like spot on the caudal fin, and five large spots along the side, whence its name. It has few bones, but is insipid eating.
