s. m, Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Janman. Birth, life, existence, age:—janam ashṭmí, asṭmí, s. f. The birth-day of Krishná:—janam asthán, s. m. lit. A birth-place, a temple erected on a birth-place of any great man, and especially of the Sikh Gurus:—janam bhar, ad. In the course of a life time, in one's whole life:—janam bhirishṭ hoṉá, v. n. lit. To be polluted (one's life); to spoil one's birth; to use things forbidden by one's religion (Hindu); to be converted to another religion used of Hindus:—janam bhirishṭ karná, v. a. To pollute one's life; to eat objectionable things, to lead a sinful life; to convert to another religion:—janam bhúm, bhúmí, s. m. Native land, country, birth-place:—janam dá annhá, janam aṇdh, s. m. One blind from his birth:—janam dátá, s. m.
