A mark made by Hindus on the forehead, temples, breast as a sectarian distinction, or for ornament; a jewel hung on the forehead; the present sent by a bride's parents to the family of the bridegroom (a ceremony among Hindus); a mark; a mark made by Hindu women on the forehead of their brothers or religious brothers at the festival of Bháí dúj; by disciples to the Gurús or Sádhús, or Brahmans on the Biáspújá; the eldest son of a Rájá, the heir-apparent; met. a stain, a blot.
