ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰਥ2
s. f. (M.), ) Corrupted from the Sanskrit word Bháj; lit. A share; the share of cotton which is given as wages to the women who pick it. It varies from one-fourth to one-sixteenth of the quantity picked. When the crop is abundant, and the picking season at its prime, the share of the pickers is small; but when the crop is scanty, and picking laborious, the share is large:—ser chune to adh ser bháṇjíṇ. What! pick one seer and expect half as wages!—Prov. used of those who pay too much for any work done on an emergency; also used of those who expect too much.
