s. m, n earth cricket with formidable jaws that bites severely; the name of a tribe generally professing the Sikh religion who appear to have been settled in the South Western Panjab by Diwan Sawan Mal. Those owning land hold deeds of grant from the Diwan. Their principal occupation is rope-making. Some have become rich, and lend money and trade; a few cultivate land. Hindus of South Western Panjab do not associate with them for fear of the Muhammadans, who object to the Labánás, because they eat wild pig. The original home of this tribe is in the Amritsar, Lahore and Jullundhur divisions. A few only have settled in the South Western Panjab. There are more of them in the Muzaffargarh district than in all the other districts of the Multan and Derajat divisions.
