s. f, Cardamoms. Various species of Amomum, Elettaria and Renealmia, plants of the Nat. Ord. Zíngiberaceæ furnish the Cardamoms of the shops. Elattaria Cardamomum is the source of Malabar Cardamoms:—láchí dáṉá, s. m. Cardamom seed; a comfit made with cardamom seed:—chhoṭi láchí, s. f. Small white cardamoms with black seeds, these are commonly chewed,—waḍḍí or moṭṭí láchí, s. f. Used in cooking and for arak or medicinally, but not eaten.
