s. m, 1. The name of various species of Portulacea; (a) P. Oleracea; (b) P. Sativa; (c) P. Quadrifida, Nat. Ord. Portulaceæ: (a) is common in gardens and fields in the plains, and is found up to 7,000 ft. in the hills. It is used as a potherb, indifferently with P. Sativa: (c) is not uncommon in the Salt Range and in the hills, Cis and Trans Indus. It is cooling, and is used as a potherb; i. q. Salúnak, Loníyá, Lonak. 2. Chenopodium Album, Nat. Ord. Salsolaceæ, a common weed, obnoxiously abundant amongst cold weather crops in the plains, found up to 13,500 ft. in Ladak where it is used as a potherb. Used as a food in the Panjab, also medicinally in diseases of the spleen, bile and worms. It is used to clean copper vessels before they are tinned. 3. Cis Indus a name for: Suæda fruticosa, Nat. Ord. Solsolaceæ; i. q. Láne chhoṭṭí láne which see: netrous soil; i. q. Slúnak.
